Have you ever wondered how lasers really work? How can a Star Wars like laser beam actually remove unwanted hair, diffuse sun damage and treat rosacea and scars!? We’re here to explain the Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) laser treatment therapy process in an easy-to-understand way, without all of the scientific mumbo-jumbo. Learn how our IPL Photofacial can target specific areas of your face and body and properly treat them.
Essentially, lasers use thermal energy (heat and light) to do two things:
- Reduce the appearance of brown spots, hyperpigmentation or redness
- Stimulate the growth of new collagen in your skin
Here at Premier Medical Esthetics, we focus on various forms of laser and light therapy to treat sun damage, freckles, hyperpigmentation, rosacea, broken blood vessels, facial veins and more. There are noninvasive and invasive treatment options to achieve such results. Non-ablative lasers and light therapy do not break the surface of the skin and are generally gentler options. Ablative lasers literally take off the top surface of your skin and can result in scabbing and discomfort initially after treatment. Both types of treatments can leave your skin looking clearer and trigger extra collagen production.
Lasers emit a single wavelength of light (referred to as a “direct beam”), precisely targeting a specific pigment or tissue. IPL Photofacials rely on light as well, but they do not emit a direct beam. Instead, they emit a spectrum of colors that are pulsed (or flashed like a camera flash) on concern areas instead of a concentrated beam of light. While IPL Photofacials are less invasive than laser treatments, they are not ideal for every skin type. Since IPL treatments give off multiple wavelengths of light, they are best suited for people with lighter skin tones.
More Collagen = Firmer, Fresher & Younger-Looking Skin!
When you think of a traditional facial, you may think of microdermabrasion, good-smelling cleansers and peels. We offer a variety of facials that our customers love in the Harrisburg, PA region, including: Vitamin Yes Facial, European Facial, Anti-aging Facial, S’more Facial, Summer Lovin’ Facial, and the Snow Angel Facial. If you’re looking to take your skin care to the next level, our photofacials (using IPL light treatment) go deeper into the skin to repair dark discolorations and scaring, revealing even clearer, firmer and more youthful looking skin.
Not only will your marks gradually lighten after IPL, but your entire face will appear more glowy and firm thanks to the extra boost of collagen. Our IPL rosacea treatment helps to diffuse redness and target broken blood vessels. This noninvasive laser therapy has the added benefit of treating wrinkles, facial veins and sun damage all at the same time. You can reduce the appearance of unwanted scars and improve the texture of your skin with laser light scar treatments. A series of laser treatments may be needed to break down all of the scar tissue and help generate healthy new skin.
